There was a chance Samuel might do something during the course of the day to justify the letter.
একটা সুযোগ থাকছে এই পুরো সময়টায় স্যামুয়েল হয়তো কিছু করবেন যা চিঠির বক্তব্য কে সঠিক প্রমান করবে।
Swami stood at the entrance to his class.
স্বামী তার ক্লাসের প্রবেশদ্বারে এসে দাঁড়ালো।
Samuel was teaching arithmetic.
স্যামুয়েল পাটিগণিত পড়াচ্ছিলেন।
He looked at Swami.
তিনি স্বামীর দিকে তাকালেন।
Swami hoped Samuel would scold him severely.
স্বামী আশা করেছিলেন স্যামুয়েল তাকে কঠোরভাবে তিরস্কার করবেন।
“You are half an hour late, “Samuel said.
"তুমি আধ ঘন্টা দেরি করেছ," স্যামুয়েল বললেন।
”I have a headache, sir.” Swami said.
"আমার মাথা যন্ত্রনা হয়েছে, স্যার," স্বামী বললো।
“Then why did you come at all?”
"তাহলে তুমি এলেই বা কেন?
This was an unexpected question from Samuel.
এটি স্যামুয়েলের কাছ থেকে একটি অপ্রত্যাশিত প্রশ্ন ছিল।
Swami said, “My father said I should not miss school, sir.”
স্বামী বলল, "আমার বাবা বলেছেন, আমার স্কুল মিস করা উচিত নয়, স্যার।"
Samuel looked impressed, “Your father is quite right.
স্যামুয়েল মুগ্ধ হয়ে বলল, “তোমার বাবা একদম ঠিক বলেছেন।
We want more parents like him.

“Oh, you poor man! “Swami thought, “You don't know what my father has done to you.”
“ওহ, বেচারা! “স্বামী ভাবল, “আমার বাবা তোমার সাথে কী করেছে তুমি জানো না।
“All right, go to your seat.”
"ঠিক আছে, তোমার সিটে যাও।"
Swami sat down, feeling sad.
স্বামী মন খারাপ করে বসে পড়লো।
He had never met anyone as good as Samuel.
স্যামুয়েল এর মতো এতো ভালো মানুষ সে আর দেখেনি।
The teacher was inspecting the home lessons.
শিক্ষক বাড়ির কাজ দেখছিলেন।
To Swami’s thinking, this was the time when Samuel got most angry.
স্বামীর ভাবনাতে, এটাই সেই সময় যখন স্যামুয়েল সবচেয়ে বেশি রেগে যায়।
But today Samuel appeared very gentle.
কিন্তু আজ স্যামুয়েলকে খুব ভদ্র দেখাল।
“Swaminathan, where is your homework?”
"স্বামীনাথন, তোমার বাড়ির কাজ কোথায়?"
“I have not done my homework, sir?” Swami said.
"আমি আমার বাড়ির কাজ করিনি, স্যার?" স্বামী বলল।
“Why-headache?” asked Samuel.
"কেন, মাথা ব্যাথা?" স্যামুয়েল জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন।
“Yes, sir.”
"হ্যাঁ , স্যার। "
“All, right, ` sit-down,” Samuel said.
"ঠিক আছে, বসো," স্যামুয়েল বলল।
When the bell rang for the last period at 4:30, Swami picked up his books and ran to the headmaster’s room.
যখন সাড়ে ৪টায় শেষ পিরিয়ডের ঘণ্টা বেজে উঠল, স্বামী তার বইগুলো তুলে নিয়ে প্রধান শিক্ষকের ঘরে ছুটে গেল।
He found the room locked.
সে দেখল ঘরটি তালাবন্ধ।
The peon told him the headmaster had gone on a week's leave.
পিয়ন তাকে বলল হেডমাস্টার এক সপ্তাহের ছুটিতে গেছেন।
Swaminathan ran away from the place.
স্বামীনাথন সেখান থেকে দৌড়ে চলে গেল।
As soon as he entered home with the letter, Father said,” I knew you would not deliver it.”
চিঠিটা নিয়ে বাড়িতে ঢুকতেই বাবা বললেন, "আমি জানতাম তুমি এটা দেবে না।"
“But the headmaster is on leave,” Swami said.
“কিন্তু প্রধান শিক্ষক ছুটিতে আছেন,” স্বামী বলল।
Father snatched the letter away from Swami and tore it up.
বাবা স্বামীর কাছ থেকে চিঠিটা কেড়ে নিয়ে ছিঁড়ে ফেললেন।
“Don't ever come to me for help if Samuel scolds you again.
“যদি স্যামুয়েল আবার তোমাকে বকাঝকা করে তাহলে আমার কাছে কখনো সাহায্যের জন্য আসবে না।
You deserve your Samuel,” he said.
