Value Of Education

Value Of Education

Who does not know that value of education cannot be exaggerated? If there is anything invaluable in human civilization, it is the value of education. The age today we live in is the age of knowledge. And the threshold of knowledge opens through the path of education. Education in a broader sense makes us enlightened, polite, and humane. Because we receive education from anywhere, it is not confined to only any establishment like school or college or university. Eventually, it is at home where our first education we receive. Thereon, we receive education at schools, colleges, and in the playground. Also, we get an education in the kitchen, in the garden, in the agricultural field or the factory but above all, we receive most of it from nature. As nature is the best teacher it teaches us in every step of our life. We become enriched, flourished, advanced and progressive. The society we live in is as progressive as education is spread among its members. Education ennobles human feelings and instincts, broadens human conscience, and makes an individual ideal, broad-minded, and more responsible to its family, society, and nation. As knowledge is power, in the true sense education is power creator. It creates in the readers the thirst for knowledge. Therefore, newer ideas, thoughts, and concepts the human mind generates to discover new horizons of knowledge. It is through education that we have achieved much advancement in different fields of study - be it in space science or medical science or technology or any stream. Today we have reached Mars and are planning for human settlements there in the nearer future. It must be remembered, to know the unknown - to see the unseen - is the instinct of the human brain. So, to gather knowledge and keep it for the future by jotting down the findings man started writing books from the ancient age. And through the ages, the dark shadows of superstitions and misbelieves disperse with the beacon of education. Our great masters in every community have taught us the real education of life. They have preached for peace and love for everyone and instructed for a peaceful co-existence among communities and religions. That is why, reading religious scriptures like the Gita, the Bible, and the Korana has ennobling influences on the readers' minds. Education does not only mean going through books, sit for exams, and have a certificate to grab success in the real world. We call a person educated in a true sense when he or she achieves some moral values, ethics, and humanism. It is those qualities that make a difference between animals and human beings. So, skills and learning can make a person successful only, whereas real education makes an individual a nobleman. The history of any nation is the stories of noblemen - the great sons and daughters of that nation. And education makes that possible through enlightening the soul of man - making the individual almost perfect. Swami Vivekananda, the great monk of India, has rightly said, "Education is the manifestation of perfection already in man."
